(1) Papules are red and inflamed lesions on the surface of the skin. They are small, solid, raised skin lesions, that are less than 1 centimeter in diameter and do not contain white head or pus. Papules are brought about by a high break of the follicular wall, allowing the bacteria and cellular debris to leak into the dermal layer of the skin. Papules should not be squeezed to avoid the worsening of the breakout. Papules usually heal rapidly and do not leave any scar because they are only superficial lesions. Using Benzoyl Peroxide may aid in preventing the occurrence of the papules.
Another way to get rid of acne scars using the latest technology if through the Dermabrasion treatment. It involves the use of spinning diamonds or wire brush to wear down the first layer of the skin. The skin would usually take a long time to heal compared to laser resurfacing starting from five days to ten days after the treatment. However, when the skin is completely healed from the dermabrasion treatment, new skin will form having a smoother and fairer glow.
Hair follicles, which are found all over the skin even where hair doesn't grow, produce a lubricant called sebum. Sebum is what nourishes the skin and keeps is moisturized. The bacteria feed off of sebum which is more abundant in pre-teens, teens and young adults. The body, in an effort to get rid of the bacteria, sends white blood cells to kill off the bacteria, but it is not a foolproof solution. The enzymes released by white blood cells actually damage the wall of the hair follicle which allows the sebum to seep under the skin forming a pimple.
